OCTOBER 2022 Live concerts
We have two concerts this month including a Senior Concert by Smt. Sowmya Subramanian. Please attend in large numbers, encourage the artists and enjoy the concerts.

Sriram Venkatesh (Vocal)
Sriram is a sophomore at American High School. He has been learning Carnatic vocal music for the past 7 years under the tutelage of Guru Sri. Hari Devanath of Sri Paduka Academy. He also learns violin from Guru Sri Saravanapriyan Sriraman. He plays for his school basketball team. In his free time, he loves to code and play tennis.
Deeksha Venkateswaran (Violin)
Deeksha is a senior in Milpitas high school. She has been learning violin for the past 6 years from Vidhushi Smt. H.M. Smitha. Deeksha is a regular accompanist for Bay Area schools.
Akshay Suresh (Mridangam)
Akshay learns mridangam from Sri. Gopi Lakshminarayanan of Sharada School of Thala Vadya. Akshay also learns Carnatic vocal music from Sri. Shivakumar Bhat of International Academy of Indian Music. He is a Junior at Washington High school, Fremont. He has won prizes in Cleveland Thyagaraja Aradhana, Papanasam Sivan and OSAAT competitions. He regularly accompanies concerts at various Bay Area venues. Apart from music, Akshay enjoys basketball, swimming and video creations.
Sowmya Subramanian (Vocal)
Sowmya comes from a rich musical family. Sowmya was introduced to CarnatIc music at an early age by her mother, Dr.Revathy Subramanian. She later learned music for a brief period from Smt.Seetha Rajan, and since age of 15 she has been under the tutelage of renowned Guru, Sangeeta Choodamani, (Late) Smt. Suguna Purushothaman. Sowmya lives in the Bay Area, California. She regularly performs at various music organizations in Bay Area and during December maragazhi music festival in Chennai. She teaches vocal music for aspiring kids and adults, and is a very dedicated and passionate teacher. Sowmya has a mellifluous voice that brings out the bhavam in her music. Sowmya believes that aesthetics and strict adherence to padantharam of the songs as taught by her Gurus is important and that these should be flawlessly retained.
Aparna Thyagarajan (Violin)
Aparna Thyagarajan hails from a family of musicians belonging to the lineage of Flute Maestro Brahmashri Sarabha Sastrigal, and started learning Carnatic vocal and violin at a very young age with her mother, Smt. Rama Thyagarajan, a renowned Bay Area music teacher. She is currently under the guidance of her uncle and guru Vidwan Delhi Sri P. SunderRajan, and has been learning violin and vocal from her guru for 10 years. She has regularly accompanied in the Chennai December Music Festival for the past 8 years in leading sabhas such as Thyaga Brahma Gana Sabha, Chennai Cultural Academy, Papanasam Sivan Sabha (Madipakkam), Cleveland Festival in Chennai, Maarga, Hamsadhwani, Sapthaswaralaya (Adambakkam), Neelakanda Sivan Sabha, and Nandalala Youth Series Chennai. Aparna also performed at Prestigious Madras Music Academy as a part of their Spirit of Youth Festival for the year 2022.
Aparna has also performed widely throughout the USA, in states like California, Nebraska, and Ohio for chamber concerts and festivals, notably the prestigious Cleveland Thyagaraja Aradhana festival held annually in Cleveland, Ohio, where she won first prize in the violin accompaniment category. She has performed many solos throughout the US and has provided violin accompaniment to visiting artists from India, and has also had the privilege of accompanying her guru, Vidwan Delhi Sri P. SunderRajan, in a violin trio concert. Aparna had her Violin solo Arangetram on Sep 2019 accompanied by Vidwan. Neyveli Sri. Narayanan on Mrudangam and Vidwan. Adambakkam Sri. Sankar on Ghatam. She is doing her BS in software engineering at San Jose State University.
Ajay Gopi (Mridangam)
Ajay is a disciple of his father Sri. Gopi Lakshminarayanan and Sri. Kallidaikurichi Sivakumar. He had his arangetram on July 2013 with Sri. Neyveli Santhanagopalan on vocal and Sri. Hemmige V. Srivatsan on violin. Ajay regularly performs in the Chennai December Season festival in many reputed sabhas. Ajay also learned carnatic vocal and he is currently learning from Sri. Kolkata Vijayaraghavan. Ajay is a graduate of UC Berkeley and is a software engineer in the Silicon Valley.
